We show up. Most weeks.

The Meandering Cones are a Tuesday-night recreational soccer team united by three things: a mild fear of the team that has actual cleats, an unwavering commitment to the post-game snack rotation, and the firm belief that a 0โ€“0 draw is a moral victory. Come say hi. Bring shin guards. Bring snacks.

Team Motto

"Possession is nine-tenths of exhaustion."

Founded in the parking lot after a beer-league trivia night, The Meandering Cones have spent every season since proving that enthusiasm and a decent offside trap can make up for almost anything, including a near-total lack of cardiovascular preparation.

Why "The Meandering Cones"?

During our very first practice, our entire warm-up drill consisted of six traffic cones that our then-coach set up for a passing exercise. A gust of wind (and, we suspect, one very good dog) scattered them across half the pitch before a single ball was kicked. We never got around to running the drill. We did, however, get a team name.

New to the league, moving to town, or just tired of your current team's group chat? We practice most Thursdays at 6:30 PM at Riverside Park and we are, as a rule, extremely easy to find โ€” look for the orange jerseys and the folding table with too many snacks on it.

Email us at meanderingcones@example-rec-league.org or just show up. Cleats optional for your first practice. Enthusiasm is not.
