Every rec team has its legends. Ours mostly involve improbable comebacks, questionable snack choices, and one incident with a golden retriever that the league still references in official emails.

Down 3–0 with fifteen minutes left against the eventual league champions, the Cones somehow found three goals, a missed offside call in our favor, and one truly heroic save from Priya to force a draw that felt, emotionally, like a championship. We talked about it for two full weeks. We may still be talking about it.
A very good, very large dog escaped its owner's leash during a match against Real Sockyule, intercepted a through-ball at midfield, and carried it the rest of the way down the pitch before dropping it, unprompted, directly in front of an empty net. League officials ruled it a dead ball. We have never forgiven this decision.
